Yolanda & Moises Beach Wedding ~ Cape St. Claire Community Beach, Annapolis, MD

Moises and Yolanda met thru mutual friends, and they immediately found something special about each other. Some people would call it love at first sight ;) It was so special, that their happy ending was actually a beginning of a new book, where they got married on a beautiful ceremony at a private beach (Cape St. Claire Community Beach) and they made sure to incorporate a few special symbols from their love story onto their wedding, such as red roses and Superman & Wonderwoman. Are you curious to learn where that came from? Check out their engagement session, to learn more about how it all begun.
Enjoy an exclusive interview with Yolanda bellow (Versao em Portugues da entrevista com Yolanda esta disponivel ao final desse post).
And make sure to watch their Highlights Movie, as well. You will be glad you did!!

Daysy: How did you kids prepare for the day? Where they excited for the event?
Yolanda: The boys are always happy, but on that day they were both filled with extra joy and happiness for their mamãe! It was something they always asked Moises and I: when were we going to get married. Well, I made sure that both were included in every aspect of our day. They were excited to walk me down the aisle along with my dad. They gave each other advice in the car on what to do at the ceremony, it was cute hearing them tell each other not to be nervous. They both reminded me over and over again that, it was MY day and that I was their beautiful mamãe. When they saw me in my wedding dress, they were even more excited, filled with even more joy. They knew how important it was for them to be part of it all. They did a great job in making sure I was happy and when I showed signs of tears before getting out of the car, they were the ones that told me I shouldn’t cry because I was marrying my superman and if I cried, my makeup would be ruined...haha

Daysy: What was your color palette and wedding style? What inspired it?
Yolanda: Our colors were red and off-white with a touch of silver. The red was inspired from red roses, which are my favorite flowers. I have always added a touch of color to everything, so red was the perfect color to symbolize our LOVE. The inspiration behind the red roses came from the beginning of our story together...on the third day after we met, Moises gave me the most beautiful bouquet of red roses. He spoiled me with flowers all the time after that, and they were always the most beautiful red roses. So, when we were planning our wedding, I knew that I wanted a romantic, red rose theme wedding, and I got just what I wanted. I didn’t want any other flowers except red roses, which are a perfect sign of LOVE. I wanted my wedding to be romantic and very simple, therefore I added special touches that I thought went well with my idea of our perfect day. Everything from the invitation to the decoration of the flatware had a special touch of romance...it was in the air that day.

Daysy: Describe any personal or special touches that helped make Your Wedding Memorable?
Yolanda: The champagne glasses for Moises and I were hand painted with a superman and a wonder woman in a wedding dress. The cake topper and my garter were also superman and wonder woman. Friends who know me will understand why I added those touches...hehe (hint: look closely at Moises, does he resemble someone who played the original superman?). (See glasses bellow, on the toating part of this post. ~Daysy)

Daysy: What was your inspiration to have your hair done on a romantic chignon style?
Yolanda: My hair was difficult because I never wear my hair up, so finding a style that I liked took a long time. All I know was that I wanted 3 roses on my hair. I didn’t want to have my hair down because of the wind by the beach and the humidity of the summer, so my girlfriend, Marlow (from Marlow's Hair Studio), decided to do a chignon hairstyle with a rose design on the back. A little secret was that the 3 real roses in my hair were symbols of our (Moises & I) past, present and future together. I loved the hairstyle, it was the perfect touch for a romantic look with the roses and the veil.

Daysy: Tell us about your wedding day fashions.
Yolanda: My dress was just beautiful and just right for a beach wedding. I wore a pearl necklace, earrings and bracelet. My shoes had to stand out, so of course I wore red shoes!! I wanted something simple yet with a romantic look for the bridal party. The bridesmaid’s dresses were simple and perfect for a summer day; the best part is that their dresses had a rose design at the waist - just perfect!
For the groomsmen I wanted something different than your average black suit and tie look...Moises and my dad wore a suit and tie to stand out from the rest of the guys. The boys chose their look, shorts, white buttoned down shirt with a red tie and brown sperry - it was a boat fashion style look, again perfect for a beach wedding. I let my nieces choose their flower girl dresses as well to match the bride (I gave them a few options to choose from) , lacey and romantic. The important thing was to have everyone feel comfortable and beautiful at the same time.

Daysy: Where did you have your wedding? Why did you choose the location?
Yolanda: Our wedding was in the private community of Cape St. Claire, Annapolis by the beach. I am a summer girl and I love the beach, nature, everything about it. A friend of mine got married at the same place a few years back and I always knew that I wanted to have my wedding ceremony by the water. Cape St.Claire beach is a small and private community and it was just perfect. When I took Moises to see the place, he didn’t hesitate and agreed that it was the perfect place to celebrate our love with our family and closest friends. A simple and intimate setting, yet a beautiful place for our day.

Daysy: The Best Thing about the day?
Yolanda: The day was filled with a few “best things” ... getting out of the car and looking at Moises while he waited for me, that melts my heart everytime I think about it; walking into the ceremony and hearing the songs I picked out for the bridal party and for me, it sent chills up my spine, it was a breath taking moment for me; having my dad and my boys walk me down the aisle; the feeling of being surrounded by the people who know me best and sharing our love with them, and lastly but not least photos by the water at sunset and at night.

"The ceremony was beautiful and very emotional to me..the pastor read my favorite bible verse in Portuguese and in English - 1 Corinthians 13: 1-13. That is memorable to me and always will be because it reflects on us as a couple and what we have been through, it’s about love, patience and kindness. The ceremony was very important to me and it was an honor to have my pastor marry us." (Yolanda)

Daysy: Tell us about your cocktail hour and reception! What was on the menu? Did you have any special entertainment?
Yolanda: Our reception was held at the clubhouse behind the beach. Cocktail hour had my favorite Brazilian appetizers: coxinhas. I wanted something refreshing and not to heavy, but just right and delicious. We had buffet style dinner which consisted of a meat and a chicken dish; rice; roasted vegetables and salad. I wanted to enjoy time dancing the night away and really didn’t want to spend hours sitting down eating. We hardly had time to eat that night but I know everyone said the food was amazing. The dessert was docinhos (Brazilian sweets) and of course the gorgeous and delicious cake, which was pineapple with doce de leite and coconut. The DJ played songs that we chose, the boys also had a great influence on the music. During dinner, I wanted slow romantic songs; later on I just wanted to dance, there was latin, pop, rock and Brazilian music played, even Moises danced!! Caterer: Sweet & Sour Catering

Daysy: Which element of your day best reflected you as a couple? What did you do to make guests feel special?
Yolanda: I think everything we did that night reflected us a couple. We made sure that all the people that mattered the most to us were there..we wanted a small and intimate wedding with family and friends who know our story and who have always been there for us. We managed to spend time with everyone there, it was such a happy and perfect day for us. There was so much love and support from everyone, it means alot to have great family and friends around.

Daysy: What went wrong?
Yolanda: If anything went wrong, my friends made sure I didn’t know about it. Ceremony started late, but I don’t think that should be considered like something that went wrong. I do my best not to focus on anything that didn’t go according to plan because there is nothing that can be done about it now, so instead I focus on everything that went right and how I felt that day. To us everything was perfect!

Daysy: Dicas importantes para futuras noivas
Yolanda: 1.

Repararam no meu tema vermelho??

Daysy: O melhor momento do dia?
